The MKS Record & Verify system is a radiation treatment interface that is comprised of a computer network, which provides a flexible solution to the problem of providing quality radiation treatments.

The Record & Verify system includes a technician station that interfaces each radiation oncology center's linear accelerator, which is the device used to deliver doses of radiation to cancer patients. MKS' Record & Verify system monitors, records, and verifies the patient's treatment. The Record & Verify Host Station maintains all patient files on a hard disk. This allows immediate retrieval of patient records as necessary. Treatment integrity is assured by early detection of errors in treatment setup, dose accumulation and report generation. This provides a valuable double check on each patient's therapy. The system also simplifies the time-consuming task of chart review.

The MKS Record & Verify system provides immediate and continuous on-line feedback to the technologist at the Tech Station. Machine Parameter Tables, consisting of the parameters the treatment machine can transmit through its console interfaces, are stored at each Tech Station. For typical treatments, only patient ID numbers and Port numbers need to be entered. User Sites specify the parameters to be displayed, verified, or ignored. The position and name of each parameter on the Tech Station and Remote (In-Room) displays are also User Site specified. Dose monitoring of each port, and any user defined points are indicated (in user selected units). A dose limit may be specified if desired. If a dose limit is about to be exceeded, the technologist is warned or prevented from starting treatment.

MKS Record & Verify also handles partial treatments. The system records the treatment given up to the point of interruption. It then gives the technologist the option to either complete the treatment or abandon it.

The optional Administrative Station offers the MKS Host Station and RAMS (if purchased) functions at other locations such as Reception and Billing.

The MKS Record & Verify system reduces major and minor errors in radiation treatment. The MKS Record & Verify system is flexible and consistent, and its Windows format makes it extremely user friendly and easy to use.
