MKS Oncology Suites
MKS' Medical Division's primary focus has been management within
Radiation Oncology Centers. For this, MKS developed the Radiotherapy
Analysis Management System (RAMS). RAMS is installed in hospital
radiation centers all over the United States including: Harper Hospital
and the William Beaumont Hospitals in Michigan, the California Cancer
Center in Fresno, California, the Baptist Medical Center in Montclair,
Alabama, and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston,
Texas just to name a few. These sites rely on RAMS for everything
from the moment the patient walks into the center to the time the
patient is billed and the payment is received.
One of RAMS unique features is the patient card reader and queue
system. Upon arrival at the center, the patient is registered with
a patient ID card. When the patient comes in for subsequent visits,
they run the card through a card reader and the patient's name is
displayed on queue monitors throughout the entire center alerting
the staff of their presence. When the patient is moved into a treatment
room, or anywhere else in the center, the patient's name moves into
the appropriate location on the queue screen. This way, the hospital
staff always knows where the patient is located and their treatment
progress.
RAMS is interfaced to the treatment machines within the center;
therefore, all the treatment doses are accounted for and automatically
entered into the billing information. This charge capture system
is one of the ways RAMS has been most cost effective over other
management systems.
MKS has the ability to customize its existing products, and create
new ones depending on the sites particular needs. MKS has developed
software, which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) when necessary, for over 12 years. Some of these products
include Patient Archiving and Communications System (PACS), Medical
Oncology Management (MOMS), Automated Transcription System (ATS),
Electronic Chart (ELC), Health Level 7 (HL7), Conformal Tomography
(CT) Simulation, and the Conformal Field Projector (CFP) which is
FDA approved and installed in medical facilities all over the world,
including the United States, China, Germany, India and Norway.
Because different computing environments require different needs,
MKS has become very flexible in the operating systems we can work
with. These systems include and are not limited to: DEC Unix, SCO
Unix, Sun Solaris, DEC OpenVMS, Windows NT, and Novell. The same
is true for the software which resides on these platforms; we program
and develop in MUMPS, C, C++, Sybase, Oracle, SQL, etc.
Due to the mission critical aspect of servicing in the hospital
environment, MKS has a 24 hour a day 7 day a week (24/7) staff on
call.. Our Help Desk has full internet capabilities, on-line assistance
and has a 24/7 response time of under 15 minutes.
